Houses
A house is renovated from bottom to top. Several floors, your own front door and usually no set of rules telling you what is allowed. And often you stay living in it.

Apartments
Renovating an apartment is not the same as a detached house. You share walls with neighbours, the materials have to come up a stairwell or a lift, and the pipework is fixed in the riser.
